At the root of much of our pain is the belief that we are separate; that we are floating heads disconnected from our bodies and the world around us. This pain manifests in an inability to express what we are truly feeling, hear what others are expressing and perceive what is happening directly in front of us. We miss it. We miss the beauty, the joy, the sadness, the laughter and awe of being. But, we do not need to. A way to move out of this separateness is into the concept of oneness. This being that all things are interdependent upon each other; a domino effect that is perpetually taking place. A bird flying by, in this orientation, becomes a symbol for adventure and may prompt a flight to a far off destination. The call to curiousity and adventure answered just might create a life altering trip and a new beginning that you have been waiting for. This expansion is just around the corner, but only if we change our perspective and become both the domino falling and the one watching it.
A Practice of Oneness
In order to move out of a conceptual perspective of oneness it is helpful to move into our bodies. Take a slow breath in through your nose. Feel the sensations of the breath come in: the temperature, the smell, where in your body the air is flowing. How does becoming aware of your breath transform how you feel? No judgment. It does not need to feel any particular way. Is there a way to deepen your breath that is not forced. It is gentle and expansive. Can you allow yourself to be breathed just for a moment; as if it doing it completely on its own, yet you are deeply aware of it. Supported by a force that cannot be named but is felt. From here, note the sensation of your body at large; the points of contact with the surfaces you touch; your feet against the earth. Rest in this space. Breath coming and going. Transforming your awareness to your body and your external environment. Breath coming and going. Allowing yourself to fully be in the space you are. Becoming safely permeable. You choose what stimulus you place you attention on. Breath coming and going. This practice is always here. Your breath is always supporting you.
